WA Day Festival 2021
WA Day is our chance each year to take the chance to enjoy everything that makes this fantastic place we call home so great. Every year Celebrate WA organises a huge free festival for the people of Perth and this year it was held on the edge of the Swan River in Burswood Park.
With heaps for the kids to do (and plenty for the big kids to get involved with too) there was a lot of action, colour, and excitement.
This is a big day for our crew. Not only is Burswood Park a large place but there is just so much going on that you don’t know where to start. Our job on the day was to capture the activities, the atmosphere, and the mood of this vibrant festival from morning till well after dark.
We’ve been filming and producing the event videos for WA Day for the last five years so we definitely know exactly what we’re in for. Still, it’s always exciting to see the new exhibits each year and to watch the bands play up on the main stage.
To cover all the ground we split our crew into two units and roamed the various areas of the festival. We were given a running schedule and stuck to it religiously so as not to miss anything. This involved filming from both the ground and the air with our drone. The only way to truly capture the scale of the event is with some great sweeping aerial shots so that’s what we did.
Once the night time arrived it was all about SOTA Fest. The main stage lit up and the crowd surged forward. At this point we’re all just having a great time filming from on the stage so it doesn’t even feel like work.
Another WA Day Festival done and dusted. All the colour and smiles from the day wrapped up into a tidy event video ready for posting online. If you’re thinking about going next year then we’ll see you there!
